“Arise: Do Your Part”
Key Verse:
Isaiah 60:1: “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen, upon you.”
This is a common verse that we all know but this week the Lord gave me an understanding of this scripture in alignment with the words He spoke to us concerning the year 2007. Early on this year, the Lord said “GO” and that this year is not the year for lazy people. Though the word “GO” is a simple and common word, yet it is difficult for some of us to really “GO”. To GO is to move or proceed, to act as specified, or to move or proceed with remarkable speed, to “ARISE” is to get up from sitting, awaken, wake up and move forward. So, in looking at Isaiah 60:1, God didn’t say “Shine” and “Arise” instead, He said, “Arise” and “Shine”. This shows that we need to our part. We need to follow through with the word of the Lord this year. This is the year for us to really spend time seeking the face of the Lord for the way forward, He has promised and He will never fail. It is now up to us to Arise and awake from slumber because it is time to seek the Lord and show forth His praise.
I read a quote last week that procrastination is the thief of fortune. I had to really ponder on the truth behind this quote and I realized that there is some truth to this quote. When God says “Arise” or “Go” and you don’t get up to possess your possession, this counts as procrastination and this can cost you the fortune that God as set aside that will cause you to shine.
So in 2007, let this part of our prayers that we will arise and seek the face of the Lord and take action when He speaks to us. I strongly believe that this is a great year for God’s own children and the Lord as fulfilled His part and it’s up to us to really run with the vision and “GO”.
Ponder On This
Ezra 8:21: “Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.”
Proverbs 6: 9-11: “How long will you slumber, O Sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep – so shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, as they want as an armed man.”
Key Points
- Yield to divine instructions from the Lord.
- Don’t reason out the word of God. If you don’t understand the instruction, get clarification.
- When God speaks to you, like He spoke to Abraham to go to a land that He will show Him. Abraham didn’t question God; He just got up and embarked on the journey. So the same thing for us, when God gives you a creative idea or gives you an instruction, the best thing to do is to take action.
Prayer for the Week
- Lord, show me all the things that will move me forward in this year 2007 and when you speak let me not waste the word.
- Lord, take away every spirit of procrastination and laziness out of my life or any other thing in my life that can hinder a vision from fulfillment.
